First of all - 230.5 this morning. I know this fast drop won't last forever, but I sure am enjoying it right now. I'll have to remind myself of this ride when I'm stuck inside a plateau - which I'm sure is heading my way.
Went to the gym today and did 40 minutes on the treadmill and 20 on the bike. I like working on the bike because I want to be able to ride my own bike outside this summer without gasping for air. While I was on the treadmill, I was able to look in the mirror on the wall and catch the refleciton of the front door and beyond that the Burger King that is ironically situated right next to the gym. So as I'm walking away my calories, I watched car after car after car pull up to the ordering microphone (also in my line of sight) and order bags and boxes full of nutritionless, calorie laden car food. I didn't have any desire to be in any of those cars or to be eating any of that food. And french fries used to be one of my main food groups. I feel so strong with my plan, but in the back of my mind I know just how tenuous this whole thing is - that I'm one Milky Way (another food group) away from a total slide back to old habits. I think that every time I make a good decision  - a decision for my health - I strengthen my resolve and make the next good decision even easier.
My other observation today happened at the grocery store. I noticed that the bill was higher than average but when I looked at the food when I got home, I had bags and bags of fruits and veggies, lean meat, whole grain bread. (and a People magazine!) I have often heard that going on a diet costs more at the grocery store - but I don't think that's true. Yes, my bill was higher but I won't be stopping at countless stores this week to pick up my car food, my evening hidden treats, my candy-cookies-icecream-chips-fries- the list goes on and on. So in the long run - being on a healthy eating plan does cost less at the grocery store and definitely will cost less in obesity related medical bills.
