Oh no - it's Cadbury Egg time... PDF Print E-mail

Do you love them? Cadbury eggs I mean. I do - with a deep lustful craving. They are a perfect combination - that incredible milk chocolate shell that sort of snaps when you bit into it - only to find that amazing creamy center. And how do they keep the yellow - the yoke - and the white separate? They're both in there swimming around in their semi-liquid state but they still maintain the boundaries of white and yellow separation. But back to the bite - so first there is the snap as you bite into the chocolate and then you get a mouthful of milkchocolate and creamy middle all together on your tongue and oh my yummy. It's a mouthful of perfection.
When I left the gym yesterday I got a mental vision of a store - some store - any store - with a counter near the cash register with a whole little display of those happily clad colorful tinfoil wearing eggs just waiting for me to arrive and scoop them up. And I used to. Last year this time I can remember buying them on my way home from work. They come individually or in three packs so of course I always bought the three packs and usually four of those so 12 eggs which I would eat one right after the other on my way home in the car to the point of nausea and then beyond to dizzy and even to it affecting my vision - blurriness, dizziness, nausea. Great way to spend the day. Not to mention what it was doing to my arteries and my poor heart. Knowing all that and being many months sober from sugar, those little devils are still calling to me. And yesterday as I was driving along with little virtual light up billboards going off over my head displaying stacks and stacks of Cadbury Eggs I actually entertained the idea of going to get just one. I could eat just one, I thought. But of course I can't eat just one. Because if I successfully entered the store and left with only one and ate only one - I would do the exact same thing the next day - or the next hour - only it wouldn't be one it would be two and then so fast I wouldn't even realize it - it would be twelve. So I can dream about them and I can have fond memories of them (funny how my memories don't include the dizzy and the nauseous) but I can never ever eat even just one. So goodbye Cadbury Eggs. Good bye peeling the sometimes sticky tinfoil off. Good bye the luscious delicious crack of teeth on chocolate. Good bye creamy center.
ON the good news side of thing - Yoplait has a new flavor - Devil's Food Cake. 100 calories of good for you and it tastes great. So that's what I'll have today instead of Cadbury. 100 calories of good for me.
