This is a picture of my rowing scull. I am lucky enough to live on one of the Finger Lakes in upstate New York. A few years ago when I was really working on my weight I bought a used shell and taught myself this wonderful sport. Unfortunately, I outgrew the weight limit on my boat and it spent all of last summer tucked up under the eaves of our deck. I've posted this picture to remind myself that life offers so much more when I'm not carrying all of this weight. So one of my New Year's Resolutions is to lose enough weight by this summer to get back in the boat, get back behind those oars. A single shell is many things. Empowering. Peaceful. Therepeutic. Magical. You get a full body workout but not in a gym, not on a treadmill - out in the open on the water. And once you figure out the tippy thing - it's best to relax - it is a very simple movement. Sort of a ballet with the water. 239 again today - no loss, but no gain. Gotta celebrate the no gain days. So in 34 pounds I'll be back in my boat. Very doable by the time the ice melts. Here's to another summer on the water. Similar Posts |
